Fabrizio Biviano is a contemporary artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Born in Italy, Biviano moved to Australia in 1983, and received his formal art education at RMIT University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts(Fine Art) and a Master of Fine Art. Biviano's work is known for its' exploration of the relationship between light, space, and colour. He creates abstract and still life paintings, as well as installations that challenge the perception of the viewer. He often uses geometric shapes and patterns to create an illusion of depth and movement, siting influences of his Italian heritage and the Italian Renaissance.
Biviano has exhibited his work extensively both in Australia and internationally, including solo exhibitions at galleries such as Flinders Lane Gallery and Mossgreen Gallery in Melbourne, and group exhibitions in London, New York, and Tokyo. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Victoria, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome.
In addition to his artistic practice, Biviano is an experienced art educator. He has taught at various institutions including RMIT University, The Victorian College of the Arts, and The University of Melbourne. He has also served as a mentor and advisor to emerging artists through his involvement with various artist-run initiatives and organisations.
